Light Fountain
Dating from 1940, when the world was at war and Lisbon remained at peace, this is a monumental fountain placed in the center of a new neighborhood at the time, the “Avenidas Novas.” It’s made up of a large basin where the water falls from the upper platforms, and of several sculptures: Triton on horseback and four mermaids.
The name (“luminous fountain”) derives from the light show that happens every night (15 minutes after sunset), but there are also “water shows” every afternoon and night.
Hours
The water shows
Every day from 11AM to 1PM and from 6PM to 8PM. Lights turn on daily 15 minutes after solar twilight.
